It was on the expected lines as most of the people are moving towards Digital Payments and nobody carries 2000 Rupee Note nowadays( I am talking about General Public). Only Politicians and big people who want to keep the money unaccounted will be worried a lot. Even they have the option to deposit into their Bank Accounts and offer it as Income and pay taxes on the same to the Government. As per Report around 3 lakh crores worth of 2000 notes still outside the Banking tem and even if you offer it as income, govt will get 30% as Income-tax which is quite substantial. Catch is they will come under the net of income-tax radar even if they pay tax and IT Dept may demand more tax alongwith the penalty if the source is not properly explained. Common man is not at all worred as he never carries 2000 notes.
